The Gold Rush Series: A Random Beginning

\\\The Gold Rush Series will focus on economic and political standpoints on the Clean Energy sector///

300,000.....New jobs in US by 2012 in the Clean Energy Sector
158%...........Increase in private investment over the last 3 years
100.............$ billion Investment in the Clean energy sector in 2008
35................million homes across Europe use renewable energy
2...................% of current market share held by clean energy companies

Not bad at all for an industry accused of volatile performances, huh?

The inevitability surrounding the death of conventional fuels and birth of clean energy is responsible for these staggering numbers and all the hype surrounding the latest gold rush.

The hype is justified ; Climatic changes, soaring oil prices and political support are pushing the energy industry stakeholders towards a new economy fueled by renewable sources.

Speaking of political support, take a look at former democrat candidate favorite, Mrs Clinton's support and approval of the growing Clean energy industry in the US. Who ever wrote that speech, knew what he/she was talking about. It's an extremely informative piece themed on new possibilities.

Although slightly off-topic, I'll wrap up this week's blog post with a list of top 4 clean energy articles that are amusing and yet so-very-true :

4. A bunch of smart people from Georgia Tech have integrated nano-technology and piezo-electricity to power mobile phones, iPods, etc using the user's t-shirt.

3. Portland drag racing news- The White Zombie, shocked everyone by taking out hot import drag racers and other muscle cars. Whats so special? The White Zombie is a beat-up old Sedan which runs on electricity.

2. The American Senate has voted 'Not to begin debate on the Renewable Energy and Job Creation Act'. Republican Senators refuse to move the bill forward because of differences with Democratic Senators over how to pay for the bill.
